African Platform on Access to Information

The 20th year of the Windhoek Declaration – the Windhoek +20 Campaign on Access to Information in Africa is anouncing the Pan African Conference on Access to Information (PACAI). The conference is held from September 17 to 19 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Main topic of this conference is to exchange knowledge and experience on information rights and their access in Africa. Furthermore, to initiate a process for adoption of an instrument African Platform on Access to Information (APAI), to create more transparency, ICT accessibility in Africa and general pubic domain information. Triggered by the international call for United Nations to provide formal recognition of an International Day of Access to Information in Africa.

Parallel to PACAI there is another conference to be held at the same time. The Highway Africa Conference is celebrating their 15th year under the banner of African Media and the Global Sustainability Challenge.

The Highway Africa Conference and the PACAI will come together for a closing session synchronised with the Africa Information and Media Society where the APAI declaration will be adopted. Around 220 delegates together wit other key partners from different sectors and countries meet together. The conference is supported by UNESCO.
